Job Purpose:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in alignment with product specifications and quality standards. This role will also focus on recommending and implementing improvements to production processes, methods, and controls while coordinating the manufacturing launch of new or revised products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and create detailed drawings for existing and new products using AutoDesk Inventor Solid Modeling, AutoCAD, and other design software.
- Develop and create cutting patterns for complex products using AutoCAD, MPanel, and related software.
- Collaborate with Sales, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Purchasing teams to ensure effective product design and manufacturing processes.
- Organize and manage part numbers and descriptions for product parts and assemblies.
- Evaluate and modify product specifications to minimize labor and material costs.
- Revise product designs and specifications as directed.
- Provide guidance and problem-solving assistance to Sales, Production, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
- Assist the production cutting department with product designs and coordinate with purchasing department on sourcing new materials.
- Develop product specifications based on customer needs, including on-site visits and blueprint reviews.
- Manage projects with external vendors, engineers, customers, and sales representatives.
- Ensure timely and effective task management to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Be available to work outside regular hours as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.
Language Skills:
- Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, technical documents, and regulations.
- Effective communication skills, including writing reports, business correspondence, and building rapport with stakeholders.
Mathematical Skills:
- Advanced mathematical skills and proficiency required.
Reasoning Ability:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various forms of instructions.
Specific Job Skills Required:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
- Strong enthusiasm and commitment to company goals.
- Demonstrated ability to handle diverse tasks and meet deadlines.
Physical Demands:
- Primarily office-based, requiring extended periods of sitting, but with occasional involvement in production and fieldwork.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs., perform frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and other physical activities as needed.
- Comfortable working in production environments or outdoor fieldwork under varying weather conditions when required.
Relationship and Roles:
- This position will report directly to the Engineer Design Manager.
- Interacts with all levels of Anchor employees.
Work Environment/Safety:
Climate-controlled environment. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Overall, no Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, however, in some instances, this job may require the wearing of a variety of PPE that will be provided. If PPE is necessary, the employee will be mandated to wear it.
