Job Purpose:
The Machine Operator safely controls various industrial machines and equipment to make sure they are working properly and can produce materials that conform with company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards. Learn how to produce items with minimal variants that have a basic level of specification complexity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Machines may include various types of industrial sewing machines, radio frequency fabric welders, grommet machines, and similar equipment.
- Use tape measures, chalk line, ruler, scissors, squares, marking pencils and hand tools to prepare materials for production and to verify in line quality.
- Inspect machine, perform routine maintenance, adjust machine settings appropriately for the material and starts machine in preparation for production.
- Places raw materials in machines that automatically feed the machine and manually feeds materials into the machines.
- Observe machine during operation to verify quality performance.
- Updates records of units produced including records of defects and errors.
- Use jack truck, drag, two-wheel handcart, pushcart, or other means to move product from station to station.
- Works cooperatively with all Co-workers to achieve common goals, communicating effectively and sharing information and resources appropriately.
- Maintains work area to be neat, clean, and organized.

Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Requires at least one year of related experience and proven ability to learn how to operate industrial machines and learn product specifications.
Specific Job Skills Required:
- The ability to quickly learn production equipment and perform basic production machine operation.
- Ability to follow a sequence of operations and work well in a team.
- Understanding of or the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Must be able to prove regular and predictable attendance.
- Enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and mission of the Company.
- Must be able to read and write to interpret documents such as work orders, specifications, engineering designs, bill of materials and (sequence of each operation).
- Ability to understand concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios with calculators to figure slopes, angles, pitch, drop and projection, cut length, hem allowances, figure, and do basic cutting.
- Ability to work with basic math.
- Must have excellent analytical skills with ability to solve problems.
- Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
