Job Purpose:

The Procurement Specialist develops and executes sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers to ensure Anchor has the right materials, at the right quality, cost, and time, to support its manufacturing operations.

This role is both strategic and hands-on. The Procurement Specialist manages supplier relationships, leads competitive sourcing initiatives, negotiates pricing and commercial agreements, analyzes market conditions, establishes standard costs, and identifies opportunities to improve total cost and supply continuity.

A key focus of this position is metals procurement and sourcing, including developing supplier strategies, understanding commodity markets and cost drivers, negotiating supply and pricing agreements, and identifying opportunities to improve Anchor’s competitiveness and mitigate supply risk.

The ideal candidate is a strong commercial thinker who understands manufacturing, can analyze data and markets, is comfortable negotiating with suppliers, and can build trusted relationships with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and other internal stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute commodity and sourcing strategies for metals and related materials based on market conditions, supply capacity, demand, lead times, and total cost considerations.
• Identify, evaluate, qualify, develop, and maintain a competitive supplier base while monitoring supplier capabilities, market dynamics, and emerging risks.
• Analyze supplier quotations, market intelligence, and commodity cost drivers to establish standard costs, achieve cost targets, and identify sourcing optimization opportunities, including supplier consolidation, competitive bidding, volume leverage, specification improvements, and alternative sources.
• Develop and maintain expertise in metal commodity markets, including mills, distributors, processors, scrap markets, indexes, surcharges, tariffs, freight, and other key cost drivers.
• Lead supplier performance management activities, including business reviews, corrective actions, and discussions related to pricing, quality, delivery, capacity, and material changes.
• Ensure materials are sourced and procured in accordance with production requirements while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and balancing cost, lead time, and service objectives.
• Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Receiving to resolve supplier and material issues, including pricing, quality, delivery, quantity, and invoice discrepancies.
• Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and material substitution initiatives.
• Provide management with regular reporting on commodity costs, supplier performance, sourcing opportunities, and market developments.
• Lead competitive sourcing events, including RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.

Education/Experience:

Required

• 5–7+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, purchasing, commodity management, or supply chain.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience with supplier negotiations and commercial agreements.
• Experience leading competitive sourcing events and supplier selection.
• Strong analytical and financial skills, including experience analyzing supplier pricing, cost structures, and market conditions.
• Strong supplier relationship-management skills.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, or Manufacturing.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills.
• Experience with an ERP or procurement system.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple initiatives, and make sound commercial decisions.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field and/or 5+ years of experience in procurement.
• Metals procurement experience, particularly aluminum, steel, stainless steel, or fabricated metal components.
• Experience negotiating commodity-based pricing agreements.
• Understanding of metal indexes, surcharges, escalation/de-escalation mechanisms, and commodity-market dynamics.
• Experience developing long-term supplier agreements and supplier development/qualification.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
• Microsoft D365, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP/procurement-system experience.
• CPSM, C.P.M., CSCP, or similar certification is a plus.

Work Environment/Safety:

This position operates in a climate-controlled office environment. Team members may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and the noise level is typically moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is not generally required; where required for specific tasks, PPE will be provided and must be worn.

Relationship and Roles:

• This position will report directly to the head of Senior Manager of Strategic Procurement.
• Interacts with all levels of Anchor team members, customers, vendors and others as needed.

Travel Requirements:

• Minimal travel required. Most supplier contact is conducted by phone and written correspondence.
