September is anything but the end of season for a tent rental business.
Fall weddings are in full swing, along with festivals, corporate events, sporting events and community gatherings. For many rental companies, there is still plenty of business on the calendar.
But September is also a good time to look beyond this year’s bookings and ask a different question:
What business did you miss?
Maybe a customer needed a tent size you didn’t have available. Maybe your larger tents were already booked. Or maybe an opportunity required a type of structure you weren’t equipped to provide.
Those missed opportunities can tell you where your tent rental business could grow.
Look at what your customers were asking for
Your customers are already telling you where the opportunities are.
Look back at this year’s inquiries and events. What requests came up repeatedly? What did you have to turn away? Where did availability become a problem?
The answers can help you identify where expanding your inventory or capabilities could make a difference next season.
Think about what’s next
Growth doesn’t always mean adding more of the same.
Maybe your market is asking for larger tents. Maybe you’re seeing more demand for corporate or community events. Or maybe customers are looking for structures that can support applications beyond traditional tent rentals.
Expanding what you can offer can give your sales team more opportunities to say yes.
Start planning while the season is still fresh
You don’t have to wait until the offseason to think about next year’s inventory for your tent rental business.
The opportunities you missed this year are still fresh. So are the tents that were booked solid and the customer requests you couldn’t fulfill.
Use them to ask:
What could we say “yes” to next year that we couldn’t say “yes” to this year?
That answer could be a good place to start.
